Consulting Analyst Program
Overview
Our flagship Consulting Analyst Program (CAP) is a 10-week, pro bono consulting program which gives selected students the ability to consult for an actual client. Students who are accepted into this prestigious program will be assigned to a team of 4-5 based on their interests/backgrounds. Furthermore, during the CAP Kickoff event, teams will receive their client assignments and student mentors, that will guide the individual students over the course of their research and findings. Segmented into several presentations for both the CAP Managing Directors and the client themselves throughout the process, students are able to receive assistance on their research and general feedback while delving into potential solutions for the problem topics outlined by the client. Students coming out of this program will have developed key transferable skill-sets and a robust client engagement experience that will be extremely attractive to potential employers.
Application Process
The Consulting Analyst Program (CAP) is available to students both in the Fall and Spring semesters. Applications will open up within the first week of each semester and will close approximately two weeks after the first Rutgers Consulting Group kickoff meeting. Moreover, applications and interviews will be reviewed and offered on a rolling-basis due to the large number of applications we receive every semester.

FAQs
What is consulting?
Simply put, consulting is about helping organizations solve problems. These problems can, however, range across many industries. One week, a consultant may be developing an operational strategy for a grocery store. A few weeks later, the same consultant may find him/herself helping a defense contractor price their newest line of radars.
Do I need prior consulting experience?
No, we welcome students from all backgrounds
What are the expectations in terms of time commitment?
Accepted students are expected to commit 10-15 hours per week minimum. However, these commitments can be variable. For instance, pressing deadlines and high-intensity client projects may require a higher level of commitment whereas lighter projects will require less hours. Do note that our most successful members put in more time than what is expected. Standout members have invested a tremendous amount of time and effort into crafting supreme professional products. That being said, many of our members are able to balance several on-campus commitments without stress.
Do I need to be in the business school?
Absolutely not, we have accepted students of all majors in the past. The beauty of consulting is that there is an emphasis on diversity of thought - therefore, it is important to have a healthy mix of students within each team.
How can I prepare for the case portion of the interview?
RCG will host a case workshop prior to the application deadline where we will: cover the basics of a case study, tips on how to go about solving one, and provide a live case for you to work on with a random team led by an E-Board member. We highly recommend that you attend as many of our past analysts have found tremendous value from this event.

Is there a GPA cutoff?
No, however, candidates who have been accepted into the program in the past tend to have competitive GPAs (3.5+). With that being said, we do consider each candidate holistically when determining an interview spot.
Can I apply for a PM role without prior experience in the program?
Yes however, aside from a strong work history and GPA, you will be expected to answer questions regarding your past leadership experiences and how you led teams.
Iām a Freshman with little professional experience (internships, jobs, etc.). Will I still be considered for the program?
Absolutely, we accept Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors. Each grade is evaluated with different criteria. For example, Freshmen applicants are analyzed based on their potential (i.e. high school leadership accolades) and interview performance as opposed to their college experiences.
